Welgemoed CID (WCID) plays a pivotal role in enhancing safety, cleanliness, and overall liveability. As a community-driven ini tiative, Welgemoed CID delivers supplementary services that make Welgemo ed one of Cape Town’s most desirable suburbs. Property values remain strong thanks to high demand, giving homeowners solid re turns on investment.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Welgemoed CID aims to provide our residents with high degree of safety with the use of technology. The area has 24x 7 digital cameras which are linked to City of Cape Town’s digital database, therby flagging any suspicious vehicles as they enter the are. In addition to this Welgemoed CID have a security hub based at Welgemoed forum. The hub is the centre of our operations and monitors the perimeters and street usineg digital cameras, our own CID vehicles as well as linking with Security partners Fidelity ADT.
Residents are encouraged to contact the Welgemoed CID when they feel unsafe or require emergency assistance 24 x 7. The Safety of our citizens is further enhanced by means of active Instant messaging groups where residents share information resulting in very quick responses from the WCID team.
All Residents of Welgemoed may request access to our Emergency Instant Messaging platform which is strictly monitored by our operations centre and security partners, CDF and Fidelity ADT. While seldom needed the communication platform has improved first responders from within the community to help residents until our service partners arrive.
Welgemoed has continued the building of numerous ClearVu fences on the perimeters of the suburb. This has reduced the amount of unmonitored entry into the are contritributing to lower instances of vagrant and criminal movement in the area. The numerous fences house integrated digital cameras at entry points assisting the Welgemoed CID to monitor movement in and out of the community. Welgemoed CID co-ordinate the access control to the fenced area by means of locking cebtain gates durig certain times of the day/night.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Our mission is to showcase Welgemoed as a meticulously maintained and picturesque suburb. We aim to achieve this by offering a sustainable supplementary cleaning and maintenance service, complementing the existing services provided by the City of Cape Town (CCT).
The Welgemoed cleaning programme incorporates many aspects including keeping busy roadways clean of litter and supporting bush clearing initiates as a topup service. Cleaning of open public spaces is also covered in the cleaning programme. In partnership with MES Grow, we continue to provide meaningful employment for their members with employemnt opportunities.
GREENING
Welgemoed CID has numerous parks and public spaces where we seek to transform parks and green areas into vibrant, multifunctional community spaces that offer recreational, educational, and social benefits. A landscaping blueprint for all five parks within the WCID has been finalised, setting the stage for systematic enhancements across our green spaces. Residents who are interested in the meticulous information on our indigenous fauna and flora should contact us to get involved.
CARING
Welgemoed CID is a caring community, and we believe in supporting those in need of support due to whatever unfortunate situation befalls them. Welgemoed CID has partnered with charities in and around Welgemoed, supporting social job creation, fostering a culture of caring for the less fortunate with tangible support through Welgemoed CID.
The WCID’s social responsibility initiatives are executed through strategic partnerships with organizations based in and around Welgemoed, including:
- MES – Enabling a journey out of poverty and homelessness to sustainable development through services and partnerships.
- Huis Jabes – A haven for abused women and children in Cape Town.
- Huis Magdalena – An accredited adoption agency.
- Alta du Toit – All-inclusive care and development of adults with an intellectual disability.
- SOS Trust – Food drives at local schools during holidays.
We aspire to further develop and enhance partnerships with establishments in and around Welgemoed, with the aim of increasing visibility and motivating our Welgemoed residents to support these organisations, either directly or indirectly.
SELECTION CRITERIA FOR OUR STRATEGIC PARTNERS
- Location should be close to Welgemoed
- Welgemoed residents should be involved/ support the initiative in person (some residents as involved champions per partner)
- Financially independent (allowing WCID to review and adjust partner selection and funding allocation on an ongoing basis)
- Focused on upliftment and support of the most vulnerable
