Invitation to Join the WCID Chavonne Park Improvement Initiative, Sub Committee
Chavonne Park, located within the Welgemoed CID area, is a small public open space in Sector 2, that currently remains largely undeveloped, with only basic play equipment and seating. While previous conceptual plans for the park’s upgrade were developed, the cost of full implementation was considered high relative to the park’s size and current development priorities.
Welgemoed CID has a formal agreement with the City of Cape Town’s Recreation & Parks Department, which authorises the Welgemoed CID, along with its appointed contractors and community partners, to maintain and implement basic improvements in parks and public open spaces.
Residents living adjacent to Chavonne park have expressed interest in assisting with the maintenance and gradual improvement of the park on a voluntary, low-cost basis. WCID fully supports this initiative and to facilitate this, WCID will establish a small sub-committee made up of interested residents, particularly those in the immediate vicinity of the park, to help guide and support the initiative.
The initial focus for Chavonne Park will include:
- Installation of a basic irrigation system and some planted areas.
- Planting of trees to support long-term shade and usability
- Incremental, low-cost improvements guided by community input
We invite all residents who are interested in contributing ideas, time, or resources to please express their interest. Your involvement will play an important role in shaping the future of this space.
Thank you for your continued support in building a well-maintained and connected community. To get going and not miss out, contact us by latest 1 April at info@welgemoedcid.co.za.
