Welgemoed’s Caring & Community Support

Welgemoed CID is a caring community which supports social upliftment initiatives that assist vulnerable individuals and families in and around Welgemoed. Our approach focuses on practical, project-based support that delivers tangible outcomes while encouraging residents to be actively involved in these initiatives.

Criteria for Community Support

Projects supported through the WCID Caring initiative generally meet the following criteria:

  • Located in or close to Welgemoed
  • Supported or championed by Welgemoed residents
  • Focused on uplifting vulnerable individuals or families
  • Managed by established or registered organisations
  • Able to demonstrate tangible or traceable outcomes

Residents may suggest projects or organisations that align with these principles by sending an email to WCID Manager by clicking Here:

Governance & Transparency

Funding allocated to social upliftment forms part of the Welgemoed CID’s approved annual budget. Funds are reserved for qualifying projects that approach the Welgemoed CID for assistance during the year. Where a director is involved with an organisation being considered for support, the conflict of interest is declared, and the director recuses themselves from the decision-making process.

Organisations which Welgemoed CID has supported previously include

  • MES – Supporting individuals on a journey out of poverty and homelessness
  • Huis Jabes – A haven for abused women and children
  • Huis Magdalena – An accredited adoption agency supporting mothers and infants
  • Alta du Toit – Providing care and development opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities
  • SOS Trust – Supporting food drives for local schools during holiday periods

Building a Caring Community

Through these initiatives, Welgemoed CID aims to continue to build a community that cares for both its neighbourhood and the people around it.
