As WCID Chairperson, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Hessel Turkstra following his decision to step down from the WCID Board, effective 1 May 2026. Over many years, Hessel has been a steady and highly valued contributor, generously giving his time, experience and support in service of the Welgemoed community.

Hessel joined the WCID Board during the second year of the first term and, with his strong finance background, served in the Governance, Finance and Treasury portfolios. Following his re-election for a second term, he continued in the Treasury portfolio, helping guide the financial oversight responsibilities of the organisation. The Treasury function plays an important role within WCID, supporting sound governance and ensuring that CID funds are carefully managed and directed towards the priorities outlined in the approved business plans.

The Board and residents thank Hessel for his measured approach, professionalism and valuable contribution over the years. His involvement has formed part of the continued strengthening of the Welgemoed CID and its long-term governance structures. We wish him well in the next chapter ahead.
