Enjoying our open spaces responsibly
Welgemoed is fortunate to have several beautiful open spaces where residents and their pets can enjoy the outdoors safely and responsibly.
Parks within Welgemoed which are pet friendly include Imhoff Park, Chavonne Park, Goewerneur Park, Patriot Park and Lincoln Park, and all perfect for daily walks, playtime, and socializing with other dogs from the neighborhood. These parks provide open areas where pets can explore while residents enjoy some fresh air. Its noted that dogs in these parks should remain on a leash.
Other parks in the area where dogs are allowed to off their leashes is the, Kenridge Bark Park, on Mildred Street opposite the Kenridge Shopping Centre. The park is a dedicated pet friendly area designed with an obstacle course, is fenced off and has shaded benches.
A Friendly Reminder:
While the Welgemoed Golf Course may seem like a convenient open space, it is unfortunately not a designated dog-walking area. Dogs that are off leash on the course can interrupt play, distract golfers, and leave behind unwanted messes. We kindly ask residents to keep pets on a leash and use the open spaces intended for public recreation.
By walking our dogs responsibly and respecting shared spaces, we help keep Welgemoed’s parks welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone, two-legged and four-legged alike!
