Residents now have a practical way to take immediate action when they encounter safety or by-law issues in their area. The City of Cape Town’s App now includes a Safety and Security reporting feature, giving you the ability to log incidents quickly, accurately, and directly to the relevant City departments.
The City’s mobile app is available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Report in a Few Simple Steps
The App is designed for quick, on-the-spot reporting:
Open the City App
Go to the Safety and Security section.
Select the issue
Choose from available categories, including:
- Metal theft
- Public drinking
- Abandoned or broken-down vehicles
- Problem buildings
- Poaching
Add details
Include a short description and a photo if possible.
Submit
Your report is automatically geolocated and routed to the correct City department for action.
If Your Issue Isn’t Listed
The App currently supports several key categories, with more being added over time. If your specific issue isn’t available, you’ll be directed to the Public Emergency Communication Centre: 021 480 7700

A More Active Role for Residents
Effective community safety and management rely on timely, accurate information. This tool allows residents to move beyond observation and actively contribute to how issues are identified and addressed across the City. Welgemoed CID encourages residents to make use of the App as more accurate reporting will help improve coordination and response across all services.
