The City of Cape Town’s Metropolitan Police Department is inviting residents to provide input on the City’s draft Annual Police Plan for the period July 2026 to June 2027. The draft plan focuses on the department’s core policing responsibilities, including traffic enforcement, by-law enforcement and crime prevention. Areas receiving particular attention include gang-related activity, illegal firearms, alcohol and drug-related offences, crimes against women and children, illegal dumping and traffic violations.
The draft also outlines several proactive policing and safety initiatives, including:
- CCTV monitoring and response systems
- Emergency Police Incident Control dispatch and monitoring systems
- Body and vehicle camera integration
- Aerial policing support
- Youth cadet and youth camp programmes
Residents are encouraged to review the draft plan and participate in the public input process. Community feedback remains an important part of how policing priorities and operational planning are shaped across Cape Town.
